Who's Legio De Mariae?
The Legion of Mary is an Association of Catholics who, with the sanction of the Church and under the powerful leadership of Mary Immaculate, Mediatrix of all Graces (who is fair as the moon, bright as the sun, and - to satan and his legionaries - terrible as an army set in battle array), have formed themselves into a Legion for service in the warfare which is perpetually waged by the Church against the world and its evil powers.
Spirit Of The Legio:
The spirit of the Legion of Mary is that of Mary herself. Especially does the Legion aspire after her profound humility, her perfect obedience, her angelical sweetness, her continual prayer, her universal mortification, her altogether spotless purity, her heroic patience, her heavenly wisdom, her self-sacrificing courageous love of God, and above all her faith, that virtue which has in her alone been found in its utmost extent and never equalled. Inspired by this love and faith of Mary, her Legion essays any and every work and "complains not of impossibility, because it conceives that it may and can do all things.'' (Imitation of Christ, Book 3:5).
What is it?
The largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over 2 million active members in most every country in the world. In 1996 the Legion celebrated its 75th anniversary worldwide. It has been active in the United States since 1931, has been approved by the last 6 Popes and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. |

Fondation au Liban:
Fondation au Liban: Quant au Moyen Orient et au Liban, on a connu la Légion de Marie avec l’arrivée de l’armée britannique lors de la seconde guerre mondiale. Au Liban, elle fut fondée par Madame Rosette EL-CORM et connut une propagation si rapide qu’en 1960 le nombre des légionnaires était 4000 membres actifs répartis en 3 conseils. En 1973, et pour des raisons qu’on s’abstient de mentionner ici, deux de ces conseils se sont détachés du mouvement pour en fonder un autre, connu actuellement sous le nom de "Mouvement Apostolique Marial" et pour lequel on n’éprouve qu’amour et respect. De nos jours, les légionnaires sont au nombre de 1000 répartis en 5 conseils attachés à des diocèses différents (Beyrouth, Metn et Kesrouan) et dirigés par le Commissium de la Mère de la Pentecôte dont le local se trouve à Beyrouth. Finalement, la légion de Marie ne peut qu’affirmer avec le Christ que: "la moisson est abondante, mais les ouvriers peu..."(Luc 10/12) et ne peut que souhaiter la collaboration avec l’Eglise du Liban en vue de bâtir une cité nouvelle fondée sur une civilisation d’amour
